I'm Casey. I am an artist, writer and speaker. Among other things. Those other things are the ones that within a few minutes of talking you have already figured out about me: Christian, wife to Bo, stay-at-home mom of three. Perhaps it's the minivan or the messy mom bun or the workout clothes worn to speed walk my way through the grocery store. Perhaps it's the bandaids, goldfish crackers, Capris Suns, and frozen pizza - there is always a frozen pizza - piled high in my cart. Perhaps it is the constant aura of joy and peace haloed around my face (yeah, right!). Those who know me best probably got a good chuckle out of that last one. I bounce between the feelings of "just roll with it" and "frazzled" and don't really find that I have a middle ground. I'm ok with that as long as chocolate and diet coke are nearby.

When I became a mom, I joined my first Bible study group.  A whole room of moms whose desire to learn God's Word was no longer solely about their own spiritual growths, but that of their growing families as well... because when we, as mothers, are living out His will, it overflows throughout the walls of our homes.  Not just reading, but studying His words and history [HIS story] for the first time awakened the magnitude of His majesty in my heart.

This book, the Bible, that I at one point had trouble understanding and connecting with, was indeed living and breathing; it answers the questions of life, the universe and everything [points if you got that Hitchhikers Guide reference]... and it suddenly trumped every self-help baby book that was piled high on my night stand.  I realized then that God had equipped me to hear in my baby's cry when he or she isn't feeling well... He strengthened me on sleepless nights... He guided me through each new milestone... and only He knows how He dragged and carried me through potty training!

Now, over a decade later, I am in a new stage of motherhood - the school years.  I have been spending the past few years at home writing here and there, speaking here and there, painting here and there... all in preparation for... something.  This is a new journey for me and I am trying my best to be obedient to God's will... only freaking out when I have to do things such as write an "About Me" page.  Over and over again He has affirmed that my three paths - art, writing and speaking - are all about to merge into one much larger path.  God has called me to help lead other moms (and women in general) to know Him more intimately, to grow in their spiritual walks, and to share life together as one village!  I'd love for you to join me!

And that takes me to Her Children Arise - a Bible study for moms. I didn't grow up dreaming about writing a book, nor was it something that was on my bucket list of things to do in my time here on Earth. God made me do it (I'm totally pointing fingers here). I told Him over and over again that He picked the wrong girl. But here we are: a finished manuscript! It has been years in the making because I stubbornly (and disobediently) packed my schedule full of things other than what God had asked me to do. I ventured into the belly of the whale and learned to put God's calling first and foremost. But I believe that He equips those whom He has called (Hebrews 13:20-21) and that He knew all along how long it would take this free-spirit to finish. This journey, though overwhelming at times, has been full of more joy, more happy tears and more awe than I could have imagined as I was able to dig deeper into God's Word than I ever had before. And for that, I hold a much greater depth of understanding of the transformative power of the Gospel. God has used this book to change my life and it is my prayer that He will use it to change yours.
